Wow. WOW!!! I can't believe it. I better start going to church because God surly exists after this football season. First the collapse of the Metrodome roof and now the NFC Championship. Yesterday was a good day. Well a good day to be a Packer fan and I a Steelers fan. Back around week 5 I called the season over. Rodgers had gotten hurt, Ryan was out for the year after the first game, it wasn't looking good. I'm not ashamed I wrote it. Here is it. But wow what a come back.
I bet the Bears are wishing they'd have tried a little harder in the last game of regular season now!! I'm not going to sit here and tell you how great the Pack is. I wish I could. But I'm pretty sure they won all there games because I was wearing my lucky Packers hoodie I got for Christmas. That has to be it. Ever since I got it the Pack hasn't lost.
Or we might just have gotten lucky. Don't get me wrong there is skill here, but lots of luck too and a pretty damn good defense. Steelers looked pretty good yesterday too. Well until the Jets almost came back, but they got it done. I think they're beatable, if the Pack can step it up.
Did you see that hit Rodgers took from Peppers? Man that had me worried. The only other thing I keep praying for besides the win was don't let Rodgers get another concussion. I really don't want Matt Flynn starting in the Super Bowl. No offense Matt Flynn.
I can only image what Green Bay was like last night. I remember back in 1996, I was going to school at UW Stevens Point and after the Packers won the NFC Championship and we were going to the Super Bowl a bunch of friends and I jumped in the car and drove to Green Bay for the night. Holy Crap was that place fun. And that was after a 30 year drought, I can only image what it's like after this 13 years of no Super Bowls. The kids are crazy these days.
But you have to understand Green Bay is tiny compared to other NFL towns. Green Bay proper has just over 100,000 people, and the Metro area just over 300,000. It's not unusual to see a Packer out having dinner or at a bar in the town. I knew lots of people in college from Green Bay and they would tell me all sorts of stories about Brett Favre from his heyday. And the bar scene in GB is pretty fun, especially on Sundays during football season. There's a bar right next to Lambeau called the 50 yard line and its standing room only on Sundays, if you can even get in the door. Back in 1996 it was like Mardi Gras, I can only image what it was like last night. I think the Governor might have had to declare a state holiday just to get everyone excused from work. I'm sure there are some serious hangovers in the state right now.
Congrats to my fellow Cheeseheads and Packer Fans enjoy it. It feels pretty damn good.
And I was thinking if we made it to the Superbowl with so many players hurt and out for the year, I wonder what we could do with a healthy team that can stay healthy next year?

That's not a jersey card. This is a Jersey Card!
I was digging through another box of random cards from years of yore and came across this jersey card of Ahman Green I bought way back in 2002 or so. I couldn't resist when I saw this baby way back when.
Any Packer fan will remember Ahman for his years of service as the Packers main running back from 2000 to 2006 and came back to the team for the end of the 2009 season. After a quick google search I found out he is currently playing football with the United Football League on the Omaha Nighthawks. He is also currently the Packers all time rushing leader.
Here's the back too.

So your saying what's so special about this card it's just a green swatch. Well back in 2002 Flair included a box topper with each box.
This card is huge!! I've placed a Richie Weeks bat card next to it for scale.
Well the Pack seems to be on a roll, taking the Falcons down with a huge ass whoppin'. It's nice James Starks has stepped it up and helped the running game. I didn't think we would ever make it this far with all the injuries we've had all year but man what a great last 4 games. Only one more to go till the Superbowl.
Green Bay all the Way!!!
cb out.

I figured I'd be hanging up my Nitschke jersey by now.
This is old news. What a crazy weekend for a fan of any of the teams in the wildcard weekend. But as for me I figured I'd be rooting for the Colts just cuz my sweetie is a fan. I sure didn't expect the Pack to win. Hope, Pray yes expect no. But then again I didn't expect us to make the playoffs with injury upon injury, but we saw a few rookies step up and a few vets come through and Bulaga seemed to be able to not jump early.
I have faith, but man that game was a nail bitter. I can only pray the next week the Pack decided to show up in force in Atlanta and that Driver's OK to play.

Oh yeah One down One to go.
Jordy, Jordy, Jordy. Sorry I think my favorite packer this year, at least on offense has to be Jordy Nelson. He's coming right along. If it wasn't for that fumble today he would have been perfect. And while our running game was almost nonexistant today, Kuhn had a pretty big day ramming the ball into the endzone and Rodgers spread out the ball to just about everyone. And Rodgers looked good. Now to stick it to the Bears next week.

Looks like lots of tackle practice this week
I should just be happy that the game was close. After watching the Pat's tear apart the Bears last week, I really didn't expect to win last night. And Matt Flynn, I have to say, had a freaking great game, 3 TD over 250 yards and of course one pick. We came out and to my surprise and for a while I thought we might win this thing. Of course the worst coach in the NFL that won't get fired this year Mike McCarthy came through again. The killer was not getting in the endzone and having to settle for a fieldgoal, I knew we were toast. Having been a Packer fan so long you can see this coming. Although there was a glimmer of hope at the end and if it had been Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre there is a very good chance we pulled this out but not with Matt Flynn unfortunately although if he had man.....
Well looks like I'm going to be rooting for the Vikings tonight, in the hopes that the Viks can pull one out we still have a shot at this. Maybe we can get a miracle win against the Giants next week too!
cb out.

Keep on rolling Pack
You would think that Mr. Driver here would be down, but if you haven't seen the clip on SportsCenter or any other sports show he actually scores here.
I was worried after the 1st half. The Pack was making stupid mistakes, the 49er's where keeping up and I was worried. Being a life long Packers fan, and if your one as well, you know what can happen if the Pack doesn't pull it together. Hell I've seen them up by 20 and still lose. But we came out of halftime and turned it up a notch and no looking back. And when all was said and done we pulled off a nice win at home. Chilly too. 34-16. Out scoring the 49ers 20 to 3 in the second half.
Unfortunately the Lions couldn't hold it together to win. So the Bears are still all alone on top of the division. It's funny to note that the Lions aren't really as bad as their record looks. They've been putting a lot of points on the board the problems seems the finishing. I'm just hoping that they lose at least one more next week.
And the buzz around the sports world is.. is Brett Favre done? Probably not. But TJ looks not great but alright. It helps when AP puts up 3 TD's of his own.
